We’re thrilled to welcome our new client Bob Joseph!

Bob Joseph is the founding president of Indigenous Corporate Training, which provides Working Effectively with Indigenous Peoples® training and resources on many aspects of working, engaging, consulting, and negotiating with Indigenous peoples.

His new book, 21 Things You May Not Know About the Indian Act, is based on an ICT blog post that received 55,000 Facebook visits in the first month alone, and to date has had over 165,000 views.

Bob’s book comes at a key time in the reconciliation process with Indigenous peoples. Readers are craving more information on the Indian Act, particularly its harmful legacy. Bob shows how understanding the Indian Act is a critical step towards reconciliation because this legal document continues, after 141 years, to shape, control, and constrain the lives and opportunities of Indigenous peoples. The Indian Act is also at the root of many of the racist stereotypes that continue to be directed at Indigenous peoples.

Bob is committed professionally and personally to supporting reconciliation through the sharing of information, through his training and free resources on his website. He believes Indigenous peoples can step out from under the Indian Act and return to self-government, self-determination, and self-reliance, a change that will result in a better country for all of us.

21 Things You May Not Know About the Indian Act will be released in spring 2018.
