Howard Green’s Railroader is a National Business Book Award Finalist
Since we first began our Railroader journey with author Howard Green, it has been full-steam ahead, with one success after another.
This painstakingly researched biography of four-time CEO Hunter Harrison—informed by Howard’s years of personal conversations with Harrison and his family and colleagues, conducted—immediately soared to the top of the non-fiction bestseller list, and the accolades just kept coming!
On May 7, Railroader was announced as a finalist for Canada’s National Business Book Award. This incredible news came just days after business magnate, philanthropist, investment guru, and all-around legend Warren Buffet gave Railroader a shout out at the annual general meeting of his conglomerate holding company, Berkshire Hathaway.
In announcing the award finalists, the NBBA said: “[Howard Green] captures the personality of Harrison and his passion for railroads and enhancing their efficiency. In telling Harrison’s story, Green edges beyond corporate biography and into the clubby nature of Canadian business, the tight circles of influence, and the intersection of the public and private sectors.”
The National Business Book Award jury is chaired by Peter Mansbridge, former Chief Correspondent, CBC Television News, and will award the $30,000 prize on June 5, 2019, to the author of the most outstanding Canadian business-related book of 2019.
We can’t wait to see what’s next on the horizon for Railroader, and for Howard!
