Heather MoyseWe’re thrilled to share that we’re working with two-time Olympic gold medalist Heather Moyse on her debut book, Redefining ‘Realistic’: Shift Your Perspective. Seize Your Potential. Own Your Story.

As a multi-sport athlete, Moyse has competed internationally in track-cycling, rugby, and bobsleigh, in which she and her teammates won gold at the Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. She was also the first Canadian woman—only the second Canadian ever—to be inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame, in 2016. Earlier the same year, Moyse summited the highest mountain in Antarctica with eight members of the Canadian Armed Forces to raise awareness for post-traumatic stress disorder. As a lifelong humanitarian, the Summerside, PEI native dedicates her time and talent to many national charities and community events. Her work has earned her the Order of Prince Edward Island, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, and the Randy Starkman Olympian Humanitarian Award. Although Moyse retired from bobsleigh after Sochi 2014, she is returning to the sport to help a rookie driver potentially reach the Olympic podium, and is currently training for the PyeongChang Games in February 2018. As of last week, Moyse is officially back on the Canadian team and is the top-ranked brakeman to date.

In addition to her athletic repertoire, Moyse travels across the country as a motivational speaker, using her personal experiences and professional training as an occupational therapist to encourage and inspire others to believe in the possibilities of achieving their ‘unrealistic’ dreams. When Moyse set out to represent Canada five months before the 2006 Winter Olympics, the then-graduate student had never tried bobsleigh. Moreover, at thirty-nine years of age, Moyse is back on track to compete in her fourth Olympic Games in PyeongChang after not training for three and a half years—while recovering from another hip surgery. The professional athlete and speaker realizes her goals by redefining what is ‘possible,’ and is committed to helping others free themselves from the restraints of ‘practicality.’ Her experience with embracing challenges, defying the odds, and proving the naysayers wrong has afforded her a unique perspective, one that she is sharing in the pages of Redefining ‘Realistic.’

Heather Moyse’s book will be available later this month.
